The report comes from CarBuzz, so don’t hold your breath, but maybe (Maybe?!?) they’ve accidentally published something factual for once!

The M8 prototype didn’t actually have the popup lights that the other E31s had. If you look closely, you’ll see that there aren’t any panel lines where the popups were supposed to be. Why? The space was occupied by air filters. The weight savings were probably the other reason.
The exposed light unit was different what the production version had so maybe it includes everything necessary.
